MI in crisis: Bumrah wicketless in six, Hardik Pandya set for tough calls

Mumbai Indians in CRISIS

Mumbai Indians are in BIG trouble. They have won only 1 match out of 5 and are sitting at 9th position on points table. Jasprit Bumrah – the BEST bowler in the world – has ZERO wickets in his last SIX IPL matches. Hardik Pandya’s captaincy is under so much pressure. Let me tell you everything that’s going wrong for MI.

MI’s Season – DISASTER So Far.

Matches Wins Losses Points Position
5 1 4 2 9th (out of 10)

Only the team below them? Maybe CSK? But MI is almost at BOTTOM.

Latest defeat: Punjab Kings beat MI by 7 wickets at Wankhede Stadium. PBKS chased 196 runs with 21 balls to spare. That’s DOMINATION against MI at HOME.

Hardik Pandya's Honest Admission

After the loss, Hardik spoke to the media. He didn’t make excuses. He said:

“We need to go back to the drawing board. The issues could be with individuals, planning, or the team as a whole. Some tough calls could be coming. Ownership has to be taken.”

Translation: Hardik is saying – some players might be DROPPED. Changes are COMING.

But here’s the problem – Hardik’s OWN performance is not great either. He has scored only 120 runs in 5 matches at strike rate 135. He has taken only 3 wickets. Not CAPTAIN numbers.

The BIGGEST Problem - Bumrah WICKETLESS.

Jasprit Bumrah – the man MI always relied on – has taken ZERO wickets in his last SIX IPL matches.

Let me repeat: SIX MATCHES, ZERO WICKETS.

Match Wickets
IPL 2025 Last Match 0
IPL 2026 Match 1 0
IPL 2026 Match 2 0
IPL 2026 Match 3 0
IPL 2026 Match 4 0
IPL 2026 Match 5 0
TOTAL 0 wickets in 6 matches

For a bowler who is called “best in the world” – this is UNTHINKABLE. In the T20 World Cup 2026, Bumrah took 14 wickets in 8 matches. Now in the IPL… NOTHING.

Something is VISIBLY wrong.

Tension Between Hardik and Bumrah?

Social media is BUZZING with claims that Hardik and Bumrah are not getting along. There are videos of them not talking during matches. Body language experts are having a FIELD DAY

Is it true? Nobody knows officially. But when a team is losing, EVERYTHING looks bad.

Remember: Bumrah was vice-captain under Rohit Sharma. Then Hardik became captain and Bumrah was not even vice-captain. Maybe Bumrah is not HAPPY?

Rohit Sharma's Injury - Making Things WORSE.

Rohit Sharma (former captain, legend of MI) is INJURED. He has missed several matches. Even when he is around the team, cameras have caught him looking FRUSTRATED.

Rohit has won 5 IPL titles for MI. He is the HEART of this team. Without him, MI looks LOST.

Suryakumar Yadav Also STRUGGLING.

India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav is also out of form.

Suryakumar Yadav 105 in 5 matches 125

Career Average 140+

What’s Going WRONG for MI? Let Me List.

  1. Bumrah no wickets – Unbelievable but TRUE
  2. Hardik captaincy under pressure – Fans want Rohit back
  3. Surya out of form – Not scoring runs
  4. Rohit injured – No leadership on field
  5. Bowling attack weak – Chahar, Boult not taking wickets
  6. Batting collapses – Only 196 in the last match at Wankhede (should be 220+.)
  7. Team morale LOW – 4 losses in a row

What Hardik Said About Tough Calls

“Some tough calls could be coming” – what does that mean?

Possible tough calls:

Dropping underperforming players (maybe Bumrah? But who drops Bumrah?.)

Changing batting order

Bringing in new players from bench

Changing bowling roles

But here’s the problem – MI’s bench is NOT strong. They don’t have great replacements.

Can I Still Recover?

IPL has 14 league matches. MI has played 5, lost 4. They have 9 matches left.

To qualify for playoffs, MI needs at least 7 more wins (total 8 wins). That means they must win 7 of the next 9 matches. That’s VERY HARD.

But remember – MI has done this before. In 2014, MI lost 5 of the first 6 matches and STILL qualified. In 2015, they lost 4 of first 5 and WON the title.

So NOT impossible – but VERY DIFFICULT.

What Experts Are Saying?

Aakash Chopra: “Mumbai Indians look clueless. Bumrah not taking wickets is like MS Dhoni not finishing matches. Something is seriously wrong.”

Irfan Pathan: “Hardik’s captaincy is under the biggest test of his career. He needs to lead from the front.”

Harsha Bhogle: “The body language of MI players is worrying. They look defeated even before the match ends.”

As the tournament progresses, teams will be looking to build momentum and strengthen their chances of lifting the trophy. My Thoughts

You know what I think? MI is in a DARK place right now.

Best bowler (Bumrah) – no wickets

Best batter (Surya) – out of form

Captain (Hardik) – under pressure

Legend (Rohit) – injured

Team – losing 4 in a row

Everything that can go wrong IS going wrong.

But I’ve learned one thing about Mumbai Indians – NEVER count them out. They have COME BACK from worse situations.

Remember 2014? They were 0-5? Then won 7 of the next 9 and reached the playoffs.

If Bumrah finds form, if Surya scores runs, if Hardik leads well… MI can STILL qualify.

But they need to start WINNING NOW. The next match is CRUCIAL.

Hardik said it best: “Ownership has to be taken.” Players need to STEP UP
