Bangladesh demolishes Pakistan, who suffer a record low score in the contest

Bangladesh demolish Pakistan who suffer record low score in contest

Did you SEE what happened in Mirpur? Bangladesh just COMPLETELY destroyed Pakistan in the first ODI of their series. Pakistan was bowled out for ONLY 114 runs – that’s their LOWEST score EVER against Bangladesh in ODIs. And then Bangladesh chased it in just 15.1 overs with 8 wickets left. Let me tell you everything.

What Happened in Mirpur?

On Wednesday at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Bangladesh and Pakistan played the first ODI of a three-match series. Bangladesh won the toss and captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz said “bowl first” and WOW what a decision.

Pakistan batted first and… oh no… DISASTER.

Nahid Rana’s MAGIC Bowling.

A young fast bowler named Nahid Rana (he’s 23 years old) was UNPLAYABLE. He took 5 wickets for just 24 runs in 7 overs. That’s his FIRST five-wicket haul in ODI cricket.

But wait – he did something NO Bangladeshi bowler has EVER done. He dismissed the TOP FIVE Pakistan batters.

He got:

Sahibzada Farhan – 27 runs (caught)

Shamyl Hussain – 4 runs (bowled)

Maaz Sadaqat – 18 runs (caught)

Mohammad Rizwan – 10 runs (caught behind)

Salman Agha – 5 runs (LBW)

Pakistan was 69/5 and COMPLETELY destroyed.

What Makes Nahid Special?

Nahid Rana is a PACE sensation. He bowls really fast – around 145-150 km/h. He made his ODI debut in 2024 and before this match, he had only taken 5 wickets in 5 matches. But in his 6th match, he got 5 wickets in ONE innings.

He is only the SECOND Bangladeshi bowler to take 5 wickets against Pakistan in ODIs. The first was Mustafizur Rahman with 5/75 in the 2019 World Cup. Nahid did even BETTER with 5/24.

Other Bowlers Also Shined

Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz took 3 wickets for 29 runs with his off-spin. He is such a good all-rounder.

Taskin Ahmed took 1 wicket.

Mustafizur Rahman took 1 wicket.

Pakistan was all out for 114 in 30.4 overs. That’s their LOWEST score EVER against Bangladesh. The previous lowest was 161 in the 1999 World Cup.

Faheem Ashraf's Fight Back

Only one Pakistan batter tried to fight – Faheem Ashraf at number 8. He scored 37 runs with 3 fours and 2 sixes. But when Mustafizur got him out, Pakistan collapsed completely. The last 5 wickets fell for only 30 runs.

Other scores:

Sahibzada Farhan: 2

Maaz Sadaqat: 18

Mohammad Rizwan: 10

Rest: single digits.

Bangladesh’s EASY Chase

Bangladesh needed 115 runs to win. And they did it in just 15.1 overs with 8 wickets left.

Tanzid Hasan was the STAR. He scored 67 runs NOT OUT from just 42 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes. He batted like he was playing T20, not ODI.

Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 27 runs and added 82 runs with Tanzid for the second wicket.

Saif Hassan got out early for 4 runs.

Litton Das finished with 3 not out.

Bangladesh won by 8 wickets.

What Does This Mean for Series?

Bangladesh leads the 3-match series 1-0. The second ODI is on Saturday, March 14, at the same venue in Mirpur. If Bangladesh wins again, they take the series.

Pakistan will be under HUGE pressure. They lost to India in the T20 World Cup, got fined by PCB, players came home to an empty airport, and now this.

What Players Said?

Nahid Rana (Player of the Match) said: “I’m very happy. The plan was to bowl tight lines and use the pace. The wicket was helping fast bowlers. Credit to the whole team.”

Mehidy Hasan Miraz (Captain) said, “Outstanding performance from Nahid. He’s been working hard, and it showed today. Tanzid also batted brilliantly to finish it quickly.”

Pakistan Captain (Salman Agha) said: “Very disappointing. We need to regroup quickly. Our batting let us down again.”

Records Broken

  1. 114 – Pakistan’s LOWEST ODI total vs Bangladesh (previous 161 in 1999)
  2. Nahid Rana – First Bangladeshi to take the top 5 batters in an ODI innings
  3. Nahid Rana – 2nd Bangladeshi with 5-wicket haul vs Pakistan (after Mustafizur)
  4. Tanzid Hasan – Fastest fifty for Bangladesh vs Pakistan in ODIs (34 balls)

At the same time, attention has shifted to other global leagues where on-field performance remains the sole focus. Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s strong run at the top of the SA20 points table, driven by crucial bonus wins, highlights how franchise cricket elsewhere continues to thrive amid stability and sporting clarity.

Sunrisers Supreme: SEC Move Top of SA20 Table with Back-to-Back Bonus Point Wins

End Thoughts

You know what I think? Bangladesh cricket is RISING. They have young fast bowlers like Nahid Rana, Taskin Ahmed, and Shoriful Islam. They have good batters like Tanzid, Shanto, and Litton. They beat India in the Champions Trophy 2025. Now destroying Pakistan.

Pakistan is in BIG trouble. Batting collapses again and again. Same problem in the T20 World Cup, same in ODIs. They need to fix FAST.
