Harshit Rana – the young fast bowler who helped KKR win the title in 2024 – is OUT of IPL 2026! He injured his knee before the T20 World Cup and had surgery, but he won’t recover in time! KKR is still DECIDING who will replace him! Let me tell you everything!
Harshit Rana is a 24-year-old fast bowler from Delhi. He bowls really fast (around 140 km/h) and can also bat a little bit – that’s why he’s called “all-rounder”!
He became FAMOUS in IPL 2024 when he took 19 wickets for Kolkata Knight Riders and helped them win the title! Remember his celebration? Flying kiss after taking wickets? Everyone copied it!
After that, he played for India too! He made his debut in 2024 against Bangladesh and took 3 wickets. He also played in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. He was becoming REGULAR in the Indian team!
Even in a short match, Sindhu looked confident. Mentally calm, not rushing, taking chances carefully. She clears long and high, drops at the net short, smashes hard and low. The first set already showed she is ready. The second set did not happen, but she used the time to relax and think about the next matches.
"Harshit Rana, unfortunately, will not be available, but it gives the opportunity to other bowlers in the squad to step up and grab the opportunity. No replacement has been decided yet,” a report stated.#IPL2026 #KKR https://t.co/RMbY72PBiE

Harshit injured his KNEE during a warm-up match against South Africa in Navi Mumbai before the T20 World Cup 2026. That’s why he MISSED the entire World Cup, which India won!
He had surgery in Mumbai on February 9, 2026. Doctors said he needs time to recover. But now the news is – he will NOT recover in time for IPL 2026, which starts on March 28!
A source told Times of India: “Harshit Rana, unfortunately, will not be available, but it gives the opportunity to other bowlers in the squad to step up.”
KKR’s Bowling Attack Without Harshit.
KKR already had GOOD fast bowlers, but without Harshit, they need someone to step up! These players will get a chance:
| Player | Type | Experience |
| Akash Deep | Right-arm fast | Played for India in Tests, a good swing bowler |
| Vaibhav Arora | Right-arm medium | Played for KKR in 2024-25, swing bowler |
| Umran Malik | Right-arm FAST | Bowls 150+ km/h! Played for SRH, now with KKR |
| Kartik Tyagi | Right-arm fast | Young, played for Rajasthan Royals, a yorker specialist |
KKR also signed Blessing Muzarabani from Zimbabwe on Friday! He is 6 feet 8 inches TALL and bowls really fast with a steep bounce! He has taken 90+ wickets in T20 Internationals with an average of 21!
Muzarabani arrived in Kolkata on March 17 to join the team. So he will be READY for the first match!
The BIG question is – who will REPLACE Harshit in the squad? KKR has NOT decided yet!
They have OPTIONS:
Promote from WITHIN (Akash Deep, Umran, Vaibhav, Kartik) – no new signing needed
BUY a replacement from the auction pool – many players available
SIGN another overseas fast bowler
But since they already signed Muzarabani, maybe they will use him as the main pacer and give chances to Indian bowlers!
There is also NO CLARITY on Matheesha Pathirana (the “Baby Malinga” from Sri Lanka). He also injured himself during the T20 World Cup and is still recovering. If Pathirana also misses IPL, KKR will be in BIG trouble with fast bowlers!
Harshit’s IPL Numbers
| Season | Matches | Wickets | Best | Average |
| 2024 | 13 | 19 | 3/24 | 20.10 |
| 2025 | 13 | 15 | 3/32 | 25.33 |
| Total | 26 | 34 | – | – |
He was retained by KKR for Rs 4 crore before the 2025 season. He was worth EVERY rupee!
KKR’s First Match in IPL 2026
KKR will play their first match on March 28 (Friday) against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens, Kolkata! That’s just 2 weeks away!
They will need to DECIDE replacement FAST before the tournament starts!

Batters: Shreyas Iyer (captain), Rinku Singh, Venkatesh Iyer, Angkrish Raghuvanshi
Wicketkeepers: Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Phil Salt
All-rounders: Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Ramandeep Singh
Fast bowlers: Harshit Rana (INJURED), Matheesha Pathirana (doubtful), Blessing Muzarabani (new), Akash Deep, Vaibhav Arora, Umran Malik, Kartik Tyagi
Spinners: Varun Chakravarthy
Looks STRONG if fast bowlers stay fit!
At the same time, attention has shifted to other global leagues where on-field performance remains the sole focus. Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s strong run at the top of the SA20 points table, driven by crucial bonus wins, highlights how franchise cricket elsewhere continues to thrive amid stability and sporting clarity.

KKR fans are SAD but HOPEFUL!
“No Harshit, no Pathirana? We need replacement FAST!”
“Blessing Muzarabani is good, but we need Indian pacers too.”
“Akash Deep and Umran Malik can step up. Believe!”
“Harshit will get well soon! We need you for 2027!”
You know what I think? Harshit Rana is a BIG loss for KKR! He was their BEST Indian pacer in the last two seasons. 34 wickets in 26 matches is IMPRESSIVE!
But KKR has GOOD backups! Akash Deep bowled well in Test cricket for India. Umran Malik bowls 150+ and can be dangerous. Vaibhav Arora swings the ball. Kartik Tyagi bowls good yorkers.
Plus Muzarabani is 6’8″ – imagine BOUNCE on Eden Gardens pitch!
I think KKR will be FINE. They have Sunil Narine and Andre Russell too! And captain Shreyas Iyer leads well.
But yes, get well soon, Harshit! Cricket needs you back!
