"Pakistan Will Have Advantage": India Coach's Stunning Take On T20 World Cup Clash

Hello friends! Guess what? The big, big cricket match between India and Pakistan is really, really happening now! And the India coach, a uncle named Ryan Ten Doeschate, said something that made everyone go “WHAAAAT?” He said Pakistan might have a advantage because they is already in Colombo for two whole weeks before India even comes there! That’s like if you study for a test two weeks early and your friend only studies the night before – you will probably do better, right?

So the India team is practicing super hard but they knows it’s gonna be a big challenge. The match is on February 15 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and everybody in both countries is so excited. My dad says he will take holiday from work! My friend Rohan says his whole family is buying India jerseys. But my other friend Ali, who likes Pakistan, says his team is already there and ready. We fight a little but then we share lunch. Cricket is fun!

On Monday, Coach Ryan Ten Doeschate talked to the news peoples and he said something very nice. He said he is happy the game is back on. You know, Pakistan was saying they won’t play, but then the government said “yes you will play” and now it’s fixed. Coach said the Indian players never thought they would get a walkover. That means they never thought Pakistan would just not come and India wins without playing. They always knew the match will happen. They kept practicing like it was coming.

“I guess we got confirmation with the leg yesterday,” Coach said. Wait, leg? I think he meant like confirmation came slowly, piece by piece. He said it started coming through that the game was going ahead and India is happy to play against a quality side. Quality side means a really good team. And Pakistan is a really good team, everyone knows that.

Do you know what happened before? Pakistan said they will skip the February 15 game because their government told them to. They was being friends with Bangladesh, who got kicked out. But then over the weekend, the Pakistan cricket board told the ICC, “Okay okay, we will play all our matches.” So the big confusion ended and everyone clapped probably.

Coach said the India dressing room never let all this talk disturb them. Dressing room is where players sits and ties their shoelaces and talks about plans. He said, “No, like I said, we kind of accepted that as a status quo and until we got there and they didn’t show up we was assuming we was going to play.” That means they was pretending everything is normal and they will definitely play Pakistan. They didn’t want to think about cancellation.

The coach is from South Africa but he played for Netherlands also. He said something very mature. He said the players is trying to stay away from all the politics. He said, “We’re also trying to stay clear of all the politics. I’ve mentioned before about the sentiments of the country and the different politics between the two countries, but I think it’s really important for us just to focus on the cricket side of things.” That means – don’t think about fighting, think about batting and bowling! But then he said the thing that shocked everyone. He said Pakistan will have a logistical edge. Logistical is a big word, but it just means they got there first, they practiced there more, they know the ground and the wind and the pitch. Coach said, “It’s going to be a challenge going to Colombo where Pakistan have been for the last two weeks and we’re fully focused on just bringing our best game to that fixture next week.”

That is so honest! He could have said “we will crush them” but he said “they have advantage.” That’s called being humble. My teacher says humble is good. But also I hope India wins. I want Virat Kohli to hit sixes. I want Bumrah to take wickets. I want them to prove the coach wrong!

India is playing Namibia on Thursday. That’s also an important game. But everyone knows the real big game is against Pakistan on February 15. Coach says now that we know Pakistan is playing for sure, both teams can just focus on cricket. No more drama. No more will-they-won’t-they. Just bat, ball, runs, wickets.

The ICC helped a lot. They talked to everyone. They made promises to Bangladesh so Pakistan could feel okay to play. They did backdoor meetings. Now the tournament can go smooth like butter.

Expectations!

So now the big day is coming. India vs Pakistan in T20 World Cup 2026. In Colombo. On February 15. Pakistan practiced there two weeks. India practiced somewhere else. Coach says Pakistan has advantage. But I think cricket is funny game. Anything can happen. My friend Ali says Pakistan will win. I say India will win. We will fight. Then we will share chips.
