After BCCI’s approach, KKR released Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman. The franchise had bought him for ₹9.2 crore in the auction. However, now the board has said that KKR can bring in a replacement player instead. This brings the player into the news.
Because of this decision, people have again started looking back at his full IPL journey. Below, we look at all the teams he has played for in the IPL and his performance.
| Team | Seasons | Matches | Wickets |
| SRH | 2016–2017 | 17 | 17 |
| MI | 2018 | 7 | 7 |
| RR | 2021 | 14 | 14 |
| DC | 2022–2023, 2025 | 12 | 13 |
| CSK | 2024 | 9 | 14 |
| KKR | 2026 | — | — |
His first team was SRH. It was a dream debut for him. He got ₹1.4 crore for the season and played well. This performance helped the team to win IPL 2016.
Rahman’s bowling style looked fresh for IPL batters then. He was used cleverly in difficult overs, and he responded well. But cricket doesn’t always go in one straight line. In 2017, injuries plus form issues suddenly slowed things down for him.
SRH did not continue with him after this.
The second team of the player was MI. He played the 2018 season for ₹2.2 crore.
Mumbai had many bowling options. As a result, they did not retain him.
He played the next season of IPL for RR. The franchise signed him for ₹1 crore. In this season of 2021:
RR did not reach anything big that year, but Rahman bowled well.
He played the 2023 season for DC. Rahman has played 3 seasons under Delhi. This is the highest by him for a team. Season-wise breakup looked something like:
Delhi used him in different situations, sometimes powerplay, sometimes death overs. But DC kept rotating bowlers a lot, meaning he didn’t always get long, uninterrupted runs. Even then, the fact that DC brought him back again in later seasons shows:

Next was the most successful team – CSK. Many people believe this was one of his best comeback-style seasons. In 2024;
The team setup suited him, the pitches worked in his favour, and CSK’s system generally backs bowlers well. That season actually pushed his name back into relevance before the next auctions
And then came the big twist, KKR in 2026. KKR went aggressive at the table and bought him for ₹9.20 crore. Considerable jump compared to earlier contracts. After the controversy, the team released him. As of now, he will not play this year’s IPL.
