So the new IPL season started, and everyone was excited for this match. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were playing against Delhi Capitals (DC) in Lucknow. The pitch was looking a little tricky for batting. The boundaries were not the same size on both sides. One side was bigger, and one side was smaller. The captains went for the toss, and Axar Patel, who is the DC captain, won it. He chose to bowl first because the pitch had some help for fast bowlers with the new ball. This decision became very good later.
LSG started their batting with a new opening pair. Rishabh Pant opened the match with Mitchell Marsh. But this plan did not work well. Mukesh Kumar bowled very well. He did not give any free runs. Then an unlucky thing happened.
Rishabh Pant got run out in a very strange way. The ball hit the bowler’s hand and then hit the stumps. Pant was out of his crease. He was out for only 7 runs. After that, Aiden Markram came to bat. But Axar Patel bowled him cleverly. Markram tried to cut, but the ball was too quick and hit his stumps. He was gone. Then Ayush
Badoni came, but he also got out soon. He tried to hit a big one but gave a catch to the keeper. LSG was in big trouble.
Nicholas Pooran came, but he faced a magic ball from Lungi Ngidi. It was a slow ball that dipped. Pooran could not understand it and got bowled for only 8 runs. That was a very important wicket. After that, Abdul Samad and a new player, Mukul Choudhary, tried to make some runs. They hit some sixes and fours. Samad made 36 runs. But after they got out, LSG could only score 141 runs in 20 overs. That was a small total. T Natarajan and Lungi Ngidi both took 3 wickets each for DC. That was a great bowling performance.

Chasing 142 runs is normally easy in T20 cricket. But DC made it very hard for themselves. Mohammad Shami, who is playing for LSG now, started the bowling. On the very first ball, he got KL Rahul out.
KL Rahul tried to hit but gave a simple catch. He was out for zero. Then Pathum Nissanka and Nitish Rana tried to fight. Rana hit some fours and sixes. But then Mohsin Khan, who was bowling very fast, got Rana out. Then Prince Yadav came, and he took two wickets very quickly. He got Nissanka out caught by Pant. Then he bowled a beautiful ball to Axar Patel. The ball swung late and hit the stumps. DC was now 26 runs for 4 wickets. Everyone thought the match was over. LSG players were very happy.

| 4 | MI | 1 | 1 | 2 |
| 5 | PBKS | 1 | 1 | 2 |
| 6 | GT | 1 | 0 | 0 |
| 7 | KKR | 1 | 0 | 0 |
| 8 | LSG | 1 | 0 | 0 |
| 9 | SRH | 1 | 0 | 0 |
| 10 | CSK | 1 | 0 | 0 |
Then came Sameer Rizvi as the Impact Player. He started very slowly. He made 0 runs from 9 balls. But he did not give up. He found a good partner in Tristan Stubbs.
Both of them decided to take time and build a partnership. They did not try to hit every ball. They just took singles and doubles. The LSG bowlers started making mistakes. They bowled many wide balls. The spinners came to bowl, and Rizvi attacked them. He hit Shahbaz Ahmed for 16 runs in one over. Then he hit Aiden Markram for 13 runs in one over. He completed his fifty runs from 37 balls. That was a very important fifty.
Stubbs also played a calm innings. He did not take any risks. In the end, DC needed only 29 runs from 30 balls. That was easy. Rizvi hit a big six to finish the match. DC won by 6 wickets. Rizvi was not out on 70 runs. That is called a match-winning innings.
LSG made two big mistakes. First, they did not bowl their spinners enough. They only bowled 2.1 overs of spin. The spinners gave 35 runs. That was too many on a slow pitch. Second, they bowled 20 extra runs in wides. That is very bad when you are defending a small total. For DC, the hero was Sameer Rizvi. He showed patience and then attacked at the right time. The captain, Axar Patel, also used his bowlers cleverly. Mukesh Kumar bowled 3 overs in the power play for only 17 runs. That was a game-changing spell.

After the match, the LSG owner, Sanjiv Goenka, had a very serious talk with Rishabh Pant and the coach. A video of this went viral on social media. Everyone remembers last year, when Goenka talked to KL Rahul like that. People made many memes about it. Rishabh Pant said in the interview that he will ignore the unlucky runout and focus on the next match. LSG will now play against Sunrisers Hyderabad. DC will play against the Mumbai Indians at home. Both matches will be very exciting.
