Pakistan turn attention to crucial showdown against Namibia

Oh my god guys the pressure is SO HIGH for Pakistan right now!ย  After losing badly to India on Sunday (61 runs! that’s a LOT!), Pakistan now has a SUPER important match against Namibia on Wednesday. If they lose, they go home. If they win, they go to Super 8. It’s that simple! My heart is beating so fast just thinking about it!

What Happened Against India?

So on Sunday, Pakistan played India in Colombo and oh no… it was not good. Not good at all. India batted first and Ishan Kishan went BANG BANG BANG with 77 runs from only 40 balls! Pakistan bowlers tried but India made 175 runs. Then when Pakistan batted, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya destroyed them! Pakistan got all out for only 114 runs and lost by 61 runs. My friend Ali, who likes Pakistan, didn’t even come out to play yesterday. So sad.

Coach Mike Hesson Says "Move On!"

But now Pakistan’s coach Mike Hesson (he’s from New Zealand but coaches Pakistan) is telling the players to forget about the India match and focus on Namibia. He said some really smart things that my teacher would like!

ย

Hesson said, “We’re really disappointed we didn’t play as well as we could, but we’re also part of a tournament and we know in tournament play that it’s not always going to go your way.”ย

ย

That means โ€“ yes they played bad, yes they lost, but the tournament is not over! They still have a chance! He said, “Our job is to pick ourselves up and make sure that we’re very good in two or three days.”ย

ย

That’s like when I fail a test and my mom says “study harder for next one!” Same thing!

Why Players Failed Under Pressure?

Hesson also talked about why players played so bad against India. He thinks maybe the big match pressure was too much. He said something really smart:

ย

“Look it’s very much when a guy’s putting you under pressure, it’s โ€“ are you going to stick to your basics or are you going to go away from that. And I think that’s going to be a real challenge because as the tournament progresses, we’ll be put under pressure again.”ย

ย

He means โ€“ when you are scared, do you do what you practiced, or do you panic and do something stupid? The players panicked against India. Now they must learn!

ย

“And it’s how we respond when we’re under the pump. All these guys are international players, they’re all good players, but when the pressure comes on, are they going to trust the decision making or are they going to probably go outside that?”ย

ย

That’s like an exam – do you trust what you studied or do you guess randomly? Pakistan guessed randomly against India and lost!

BIG NEWS! Babar and Shaheen Might Be Dropping!

Okay so here is the JUICIEST news! Reports are saying Pakistan might DROP their biggest stars โ€“ Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi – for the Namibia match!ย

Babar only scored 5 runs against India and got out playing a stupid shot. Shaheen gave away 31 runs in just 2 overs! That’s so expensive!ย

The team management is FRUSTRATED with the senior players not performing. They might bring in Fakhar Zaman and Naseem Shah instead.ย  That’s like when a teacher sends naughty kids to principal and brings new students!

Between two to three changes might happen! The team wants “fresh energy” because old energy is tired and sad.ย

How Can Pakistan Qualify?

Okay so let me explain the qualification like math class but FUN!ย

TeamMatchesWonLostPointsNet Run Rate
India3306+1.245
USA4224+0.788
Pakistan3214-0.403
Namibia3030-2.156

Pakistan has 4 points, same as USA. But USA has better net run rate because Pakistan lost badly to India.ย

To qualify, Pakistan MUST:

Beat Namibia = 6 points = QUALIFY!

Match washed out by rain = 5 points = QUALIFY!

Lose to Namibia = 4 points = GO HOME!ย

So basically, WIN OR GO HOME! No pressure right?

What About Namibia?

Namibia has lost ALL their matches so far. They lost to India, USA, and someone else. They are at bottom of group with 0 points and very bad net run rate.ย

ย

So Pakistan SHOULD win easily. But in cricket, anything can happen! Remember when Italy beat Nepal? Shocks happen! Pakistan cannot be lazy!

At the same time, attention has shifted to other global leagues where on-field performance remains the sole focus. Sunrisers Eastern Capeโ€™s strong run at the top of the SA20 points table, driven by crucial bonus wins, highlights how franchise cricket elsewhere continues to thrive amid stability and sporting clarity.

When and Where is Match?

The BIG match is on Wednesday at Sinhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground in Colombo.ย  Same city where they lost to India. Hopefully better result this time!

You know what I think? Pakistan has good players. Babar is world class usually. Shaheen is scary fast usually. They just had ONE bad day. But in tournaments, one bad day can send you home!ย

ย

I hope they win against Namibia because I want to see India vs Pakistan again in semi-final or final! That would be SO EXCITING! But first, they must beat Namibia. No easy games in World Cup!

My friend Ali is still sad but I told him “don’t worry, Pakistan will beat Namibia!” He said “but what if they drop Babar?” I said “then new players will be hungry to prove themselves!” Either way, Wednesday is gonna be DRAMA!
