Did you SEE what 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi did last night? He is ONLY 15 years old – four years younger than IPL itself. And he SMASHED 52 runs off just 17 balls against Chennai Super Kings. CSK had no idea what hit them. Rajasthan Royals won by 8 wickets with 8 overs to spare. Let me tell you everything.
Brief Scores:
Chennai Super Kings: 127 all out in 18.4 overs (Jamie Overton 43, Ravindra Jadeja 2-18, Jofra Archer 2-19, Nandre Burger 2-26)
Rajasthan Royals: 128/2 in 12.2 overs (Vaibhav Sooryavanshi 52 off 17, Yashasvi Jaiswal 38*)
RR won by 8 wickets.
CSK Batting – Same OLD Problems.
CSK won the toss and batted first. But OH NO. Their batting COLLAPSED again – just like 2025 when they finished LAST in the league.
Powerplay score: 41 runs for 4 wickets in 6 overs. That’s DISASTER.
| Over | Score | Wicket |
|---|---|---|
| 2nd | 10/1 | Sanju Samson out for 6 |
| 3rd | 19/2 | Ruturaj Gaikwad out for 6 |
| 4th | 19/3 | Ayush Mhatre out for 0 (Golden Duck) |
| 6th | 38/4 | Matthew Short out for 8 |
| 8th | 51/5 | Sarfaraz Khan out for 17 |
| 8th | 57/6 | Shivam Dube out for 6 |
Only one batter fought: Jamie Overton scored 43 off 36 balls. He added 33 runs with Anshul Kamboj for the LAST wicket – that’s the highest last-wicket partnership for CSK ever.
But CSK only made 127 runs. On a normal pitch, that’s TOO LOW.

RR captain Riyan Parag won the toss and chose to BOWL first – SMART decision. The Guwahati pitch was damp (rain before match), so the ball was SEAMING and BOUNCING.
Jofra Archer: 4 overs, 2 wickets, 19 runs
Bowled 143 km/h
Bowled Test-match lengths (good length, not full)
Got Ruturaj Gaikwad bowled.
Nandre Burger: 4 overs, 2 wickets, 26 runs
Bowled left-arm fast
Got Sanju Samson bowled with a ball that SEAMED away.
Both bowlers made CSK batters look SILLY. They were playing a T20 like Test match – defending, missing, getting out.

Ravindra Jadeja was playing AGAINST Chennai Super Kings for the FIRST TIME in 17 years. He played for CSK from 2012 to 2025. Now he is in RR.
And guess what? He TOOK REVENGE.
In his first over (7th over of the innings), he took 2 wickets.
Wicket 1 – Sarfaraz Khan: Jadeja bowled a fast, flat ball that hit the pads. LBW. Sarfaraz is out for 17.
Wicket 2 – Shivam Dube: Dube hit the first ball for SIX. Then Jadeja bowled wide of off stump. Dube sliced a catch to long off. OUT.
Jadeja gave a BIG SEND-OFF to Dube. He shouted and pointed. After the innings, he said with a big smile, “Pink looks good on me.”
He finished with 2 wickets for 18 runs in 3 overs. PERFECT return.
Now comes the BEST part. RR needed 128 runs to win. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi opened the batting with Yashasvi Jaiswal.
First ball of chase: Matt Henry bowled. Sooryavanshi mis-hit to midwicket. Kartik Sharma (wicketkeeper) DROPPED the catch. It went for FOUR.
Next ball: Sooryavanshi HITS SIX over wide long-on. That’s 10 runs from the first 2 balls.
His 50 came off just 15 BALLS. That’s the FIFTH fastest fifty in IPL history.
His innings: 52 runs off 17 balls
5 sixes
3 fours
Strike rate: 305.88.
He hit sixes:
Over wide long-on
Over deep point (off slower ball.)
Over long-off
Over midwicket
His BEST six was off Matt Henry’s slower ball. Henry bowled a slow cutter wide of off stump. Sooryavanshi SWEPT it over deep point – one of only TWO fielders in the outfield. The bat speed was UNREAL.
How he got out: In the 7th over, Anshul Kamboj bowled. Sooryavanshi tried to hit another six. Sarfaraz Khan took a SUPERB diving catch at sweeper cover. Out for 52 off 17 balls.
But the damage was ALREADY done. RR was 70/1 in 6 overs. The match was OVER.

Aakash Chopra said: “Riyan Parag is a bold choice. He is young but he has the game sense. I think RR is building for the future.”
Irfan Pathan said: “RR has always trusted young players. They gave captaincy to Sanju at 27, now to Riyan at 24. It shows their faith in youth.”
Harsha Bhogle said: “Parag has matured a lot. He is no longer the ‘angry young man’ we saw in early years. He is ca
After Sooryavanshi got out, Yashasvi Jaiswal (38* off 28 balls) and captain Riyan Parag (14* off 15 balls) finished the chase.
RR reached 128/2 in just 12.2 overs – that’s 7.4 overs remaining. DOMINATION.
As the tournament progresses, teams will be looking to build momentum and strengthen their chances of lifting the trophy. In fact, if you’re wondering which side has the best shot at going all the way this season, check out our detailed analysis on why Royal Challengers Bengaluru could successfully defend their IPL title. It gives deeper insights into their squad strength, key players, and winning strategy for IPL 2026.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi – Youngest player to score IPL fifty (15 years, 3 days)
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi – Fifth fastest fifty in IPL history (15 balls)
Ravindra Jadeja – First player to take wicket for RR against CSK after playing 17 years for CSK
CSK – Lowest powerplay score in 2026 IPL (41/4)
Overton-Kamboj – Highest last-wicket partnership for CSK (33 runs)
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi after match:
“I just wanted to play my natural game. The dropped catch gave me confidence. I knew if I saw the ball, I hit the ball. No other way of thinking.”
Ravindra Jadeja:
“Pink looks good on me. (laughs) No, but seriously, it was emotional playing against CSK. But once I’m on the field, I give 100% for my team. RR is my family now.”
Riyan Parag (RR captain):
“Sooryavanshi is special. We all know that. But we must not put too much pressure on him. He is only 15. Let him enjoy his cricket.”
Ruturaj Gaikwad (CSK captain):
“Very disappointing. Same batting problems as last year. We need to sit down and think. Can’t keep collapsing like this.”
You know what I think? This match was CRAZY.
CSK batting is BROKEN. Same collapse as 2025 when they finished last. Without Dhoni (injured), they have NO finisher. Sanju Samson (6 runs), Ruturaj (6), Dube (6) – all FAILED.
RR bowling is SCARY. Archer, Burger, Sandeep Sharma, plus Jadeja. That’s WORLD CLASS.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is UNREAL. He is 15 and hitting 150+ km/h bowlers for sixes. Imagine when he is 25.
CSK must FIX their batting. They have Samson, Gaikwad, Dube, Overton – all good players. But they are not FIRING together.
RR looks like TITLE CONTENDERS. Strong batting, strong bowling, strong captaincy
