T20 World Cup: Team India were told to avoid sledging Pakistan
Oh my god guys I just saw the COOLEST video! The BCCI (that’s India’s cricket board) shared a video of what happened BEFORE the India vs Pakistan match! And guess what? Captain Suryakumar Yadav told all players – “NO SLEDGING! No talking bad to Pakistan! Just let bat and ball do the talking!” And then India went and WON by 61 runs!
Suryakumar's Big Message!
In a video that the BCCI shared, Suryakumar Yadav gathered all the players and said something SO MATURE! He told them:
“Focus on cricketing skills, avoid verbal exchanges. Let bat and ball do the talking!”
That means – don’t fight, don’t say bad words, don’t sledge! Just PLAY GOOD CRICKET! If you are good, you don’t need to talk!
Suryakumar is such a good captain! He knows that in India vs Pakistan matches, emotions run HIGH! Players get angry! The crowd is screaming! But he said “stay calm, just play cricket!”

Why Was This Message Important?
You know there was BIG tension before this match! Pakistan was saying they might NOT play! They were angry about something with Bangladesh and ICC had to fix everything! So emotions were already high!
Also, India and Pakistan don’t shake hands after matches anymore. That’s a rule from governments. So no handshakes, no friendly talks.
If players started sledging and fighting, it could become a BIG problem! The match could get ugly! Umpires would get angry! ICC would get angry!
So Suryakumar’s message was PERFECT! “Let’s just play cricket and show who is better!”
